To soak up Paris’ storied past and pioneering role in art history, head on over to the Musée d’Orsay, on the Left Bank. There you can find iconic works from such masters as Renoir, Seurat, Cézanne, Manet and Delacroix. The big show of the season is the current Pierre Bonnard retrospective, which traces the full breadth of his career, from the early years under the influence of Gauguin and Japanese printmaking to his later Expressionist portraits, landscapes and domestic scenes. Even the second-floor restaurant, with Chef Yann Landureau at the helm, has ample art-appreciation opportunities; look up past the gilded chandeliers and you’ll spot a series of mythical paintings by 19th-century French artist Gabriel Ferrier.
