The next best thing to sitting in a serene, beautifully appointed room is opening a book and getting lost in glossy photos of serene, beautifully appointed rooms. That’s exactly what Carlos Mota’s new book A Touch of Style (Assouline) is. “This book is a wonderful compilation of my best work as an editor, designer and stylist for many magazines,” he says. “I feel like a pop star, but really, it’s Carlos Mota’s greatest hits on the pop charts.” Through a smattering of vibrantly colored flowers, a frame of blue-and-white ceramic plates or a one-of-a-kind vase, Mota draws you in and makes you want to sit and stay awhile. Above, a few rooms with a great view.
